The Diabetes Institute Heidelberg is privately owned and independent. It was founded in 2009 by Prof. Dr. med. C. Hasslacher at the St. Josefshospital Heidelberg.

The scientific competences are on the field of diabetes mellitus and their associated diseases. The institute carries out clinical studies of phases I –IV regarding new pharmaceutical drugs and medical-technical products as well as other scientific investigations in the fields mentioned above.

The advantageous location of the Diabetesinstitut at the St. Josefskrankenhaus Heidelberg gives the opportunity to deal also with further questions concerning the internal medicine, especially in connection with the broad technical equipment of the main departments of the hospital such as Cardiology/ Angiology, Gastroenterology or Radiology.
